I'm going to build a privacy screen for my mother-in-law. I thought I'd start with a standing board attached to the wall, then posts at 120 cm centers. The question is how to attach the first board to the brick wall (façade brick), or maybe that's even overkill? Maybe it would work to start with a post next to the wall?

Drill into the brick and use expansion plugs.
I would definitely attach it to the wall.
Then proper cast anchor points in the ground. How long and high should the privacy screen be?
It's easy to underestimate the forces on such a construction due to wind, ground movements, snow, etc.
So go a little extra to avoid getting a crooked and windblown structure after the first winter!

It will be 360 cm long and 150 cm high and will have an angle with a length of about 120 cm. It is a condominium building and is located behind a row of garages, so the wind doesn't reach it much.
