ok. Yes, it is above ground but the wooden studs never directly touch the brick anywhere. That's "risk-free," right?

Ok. I understand. But what is the risk with the wooden studs? They don't touch any brick.

The risk is that the bricks might carry moisture, and the space where the studs are could have higher humidity, causing the wood to both mold and rot. But if the brick wall is otherwise dry, there shouldn't be any problems.
