When I wanted to switch from a floor-to-ceiling trellis to a railing during our renovation, I looked for a solution on how to best attach a post to the floor. Since I couldn't find any suitable tips, I had to come up with a solution myself and thought I'd share it here.

I bought a ready-made post, built a railing from the old trellis, and made my own handrail. Screwed the railing to the post to make it as stable as possible:

Welded together a screw stud and a threaded rod that was screwed into the floor:

With a shaped drill, I drilled through the entire post from both sides and countersunk at the top with a larger drill so that the nut and washer would fit:

After this, I could screw the handrail in place to conceal the attachment:

It turned out really stable, so this is recommended:
