Hello

I have built myself a half-wall as a replacement for an ugly lattice around our staircase in the hall and am almost finished. What is missing is a handrail, and I was thinking of using an oak plank for that, but now I am considering how to best attach it to the wall. I don’t want the screw heads to be visible.

Grateful for tips.

With a plug cutter and cylinder drill, you can conceal screw heads very well, practically invisibly if you are careful with the grain, etc. The alternative is to glue, which should also work with a little something like PL400 or similar.

B
a bit late but you could have screwed it from underneath.
otherwise, you can just snap or glue it.
feel free to screw and glue at the same time.

Yes, the idea of screwing it in from underneath was considered, but it felt wrong since the wall also needed to be painted and plastered. It will be glue and plugs.
