Attach floor joist to cement slab?

I am going to build an interior wall in my garage. I have some questions about how to best attach the floor joist. I will be using a wooden joist. Can I glue it directly to the slab or should I drill into the slab and then attach with plugs? Which drill bit should I use in that case? Concrete drill bit? Masonry drill bit?

I would recommend the following, which I used myself. Just drill with a concrete drill directly through the stud and into the floor (make sure to drill deep enough) and then simply hammer in the expansion nail. The nail doesn't need to go many centimeters into the slab for it to hold firmly. Also, place sill insulation between the stud and the floor before nailing it down.

It is also possible to glue directly with, for example, PL 400.

If you are going to drill, make sure not to drill into the underfloor heating if you have that in the slab...

Don't forget to add insulation for moisture, such as tar paper or foam plastic for the sill.

A good site where you can see various sketches of different constructions. A "syll" is in your case a horizontal beam.
