Assemble stairs in new construction?!
In the cabin we are going to build, we bought a used straight staircase on Blocket. It will have a wall on one side and be open except for some railing on the other side.
How should we attach it? You can easily see it was attached with 3 screws on one stringer. Should we also attach it up there in the floor structure, meaning in the end grain of the stringers?
Then down at the floor. We have a slab with underfloor heating so I don't want to screw it into the floor in any way at all. Should the staircase be placed directly on the concrete? Something under the stringers if so, like plastic or similar? Or do you install it on the finished floor? We are going to have some kind of floating click-floor on the concrete.

I would probably not place it on a floating floor. Preferably directly on the concrete.Savanna said:In the cottage we're going to build, we bought a used straight staircase on Blocket. It will have a wall on one side and be open except for some railing on the other side.
How should we fasten it? It has been attached with 3 screws on one stringer, as you can easily see. Should it also be fastened up there in the beam layer, meaning into the end grain of the stringers?

Once you set up the staircase against the floor/loft etc., I would try to secure it at the base so it can't slide backward.
If it can't slide backward, it can't fall either.
Now, that wasn't possible due to the underfloor heating in the slab. (an alternative is to check the placement of the pipes with a thermal camera/IR meter).
I would bolt it to the wall and if possible at the top, for example, using corner brackets. Glue the bottom part to the floor or cast a small concrete block as a stop.
Attach the staircase to the stringer as before, but locate the studs in the wall and then attach it to the joist at the top. Place it on the finished floor without anything else, since you're not planning to have five elephants jumping on the staircase at the same time.
Haha I hope 5 elephants don't show up for a visit and start jumping on the stairs.
I was planning to attach the stairs to the studs in the wall, in the worst-case scenario, I might have to use more than 3 screws.
Directly on the finished floor (click?) do you mean directly on the concrete?? I'd rather install the stairs pretty directly and straight onto the concrete, so it's easier for us to start using the loft without ladders.
Gluing and casting a concrete plinth doesn't seem appealing.
