We have a 1960s house with exterior walls that have wallpaper on the inside, 19mm particle board, and then the asphalt paper in the picture before the insulation. Outside the insulation, there is a wind barrier and then paneling. Now we have added more electricity in the walls and need to replace the asphalt-coated paper. I'm unsure if it is diffusion-tight and if it can be replaced with plastic. Does anyone in the forum know what it might be and where to get a new one? Close-up of a piece of asphalt-impregnated paper used in a 1960s house wall construction, showing its texture and worn edges.

Windproof fabric is best, not asphalt felt as it just breaks, the fabric can withstand rough handling. and the one that's there acts as a windbreak, similar to the one inside the outer wall.
