Hi, the carpenter is coming next week to replace the exterior cladding on a gable, underneath the cladding is asfaltsboard. I was thinking of tearing down the old cladding this weekend so that it's all ready for the carpenter to start later. I see from the weather forecast that there will be some rain on Sunday but then it will be fine. How sensitive is asfaltsboard to rain? The house was built in '84.

Nothing to worry about, asvabord has a whale-like ingredient in it and can withstand some moisture, of course it shouldn't be left open to the elements for years. The panel will likely be attached to a strip/nailing board and then it will ventilate.
