Damn, now the anxiety came out of nowhere, my power outlet fell out and I tried to put it back, but now I see there are crumbs of white lumps where the screw was. We had a handyman here about a year ago who replaced all the power outlets but apparently, it didn’t go so well.

Initially, I just thought it's plaster, but then the thoughts come, searched around and even see here that asbestos has been used in plaster, the house was built in 1968 there.

DAMN DAMN.

Taped around the power outlet and turned on my air purifier but this was not good at all. Considering moving the bed out of there tonight.

Take three deep breaths (in another room if it feels better). Wipe up what came loose with a piece of wet paper towel and throw it in the trash. Done. The bigger risk here is that the outlet is not properly installed, which needs to be fixed.

Even if it is a matter of asbestos, which it probably isn't, the quantities are extremely small, and no dangerous fibers are released in that way. The problem with asbestos is when it is processed with cutting or grinding tools, causing it to dust. It is the small fibers that are dangerous. Asbestos in a solid form, such as asbestos cement sheets or bound in black glue, is not dangerous.

Moreover, an air purifier is completely the wrong way to go if there was a release of asbestos fibers. If it does not have a HEPA filter, it will just spread the fibers worse. But to clarify, in this case, it does not matter.

The quantity and handling you describe wouldn't matter even if it was the worst kind of asbestos. But it wasn't. It was probably putty or plaster. So it's fine. You are at a much greater risk of dying from something else, such as a stress-induced heart attack.
