I am planning our new kitchen project and will have to prepare our crawl space and install a new floor structure.
I have seen that many people run pipes for electricity and water in the floor structure.
But I would like to place them in the crawl space.
Advantages
1. Easy to insulate pipes against condensation.
2. Easily accessible
3. Does not weaken the floor structure
4. No space constraints
5. Can also run larger ventilation pipes.
The prerequisite is, of course, that the temperature in the crawl space remains on the plus side and that you insulate the hot water and ventilation pipes.
Condensation insulation is only needed where the pipe temperature is lower than the surrounding (crawl space) temperature. This mainly applies to the cold water pipes then.
This opportunity for flexible pipe routing is probably one of the few advantages highlighted with building with a crawl space instead of with "slab on grade".
Thanks for the answer, feeling the same way right now.
I will also arrange the crawl space and possibly insulate it. Will check with an engineer in this area. Should one cast a beam, where all the pipes can be placed and insulated, or do you have any suggestions on how to lay the pipes most easily? Can't lay them directly on the ground.
