Archipelago look...raw paneling on wall. How?
The wife and I have become obsessed with the "archipelago look" and therefore want to put up raw pine on the wall in the hallway and paint it white. (I know…shabby chic
)
How the heck do I do this best?
The wall is a regular drywall. If I put up cross battens to be able to nail the tongue and groove, e.g. 5mm MDF, and then 17mm raw pine, it will stick out 10mm beyond the door frames and window sashes. How do you solve that problem?
Ignoring the cross battens and nailing directly into the drywall doesn't seem like a good idea. I considered routing out the drywall and placing the wooden battens, but even then the tongue and groove ends up a bit beyond the door frames/window sashes. Installing new door frames and window sashes is not an option. Nor is removing the drywall.
Does anyone have any good suggestions?
