Hello, going to build a deck on a gravel bed. A bit of a disagreement with some about whether it needs to be anchored or not, the deck will be about 80 square meters.

Plintar, maybe?

Foundations, What?

Thinking of placing a deck on, for example, garden tiles so that it is raised a few cm from the gravel.

Foundations are not of interest, the question is whether it can be freestanding or if it needs to be anchored to the house or similar for potential storms, etc.

A terrace of 80m2 weighs quite a lot... I don't think you need to worry about it growing legs and running away as some seem to think...

I can't provide any scientific evidence, but if you're going to have a roof anchored to the facade, I think you should also anchor the floor to the foundation.

I would probably fasten it to the house wall (mostly to avoid a gap when the wood dries). Otherwise, it will likely stay where it is.

Hello, it's probably best to anchor it in the house's foundation.

Then place plastic spacers between the baseboard and the beam so that they are not snug against each other. A little air in between is good.
