Planning to build a deck around a pool and fastening several joists with brackets and anchor screws. Closest to the pool, I was thinking of using A2 screws (haven't found A4 anchor screws at any nearby hardware store). But then I started reading that it’s unwise to mix stainless steel and galvanized/hot-dip galvanized.

Is it better for me to use C4-classified anchor screws for the brackets nearest the pool? They don't withstand moisture as well as A2, but then I wouldn't be mixing stainless and galvanized. Or should I go with the A2 screws?

I would have used C4. They should last a long time, probably until it's time to replace the decking, and you avoid any problems with mixing in a wet environment.

Additionally, my experience is that stainless screws are worse to work with. They often seem to have poorer stamping/rounder edges in the actual fitting, so the bits slip and tear the edges.

I had ordered a4.
Especially if it is a saltwater pool.
Order online from e.g. proffsmagasinet so you get them quickly and don't have to lie awake wondering if your c4 will last 5 or 10 years.
