Hi, I have asked a similar question but haven't received an answer, so I'm trying with a new one.

I am going to insulate the floor above an 80 cm wide basement wall made of stone/gravel and rubble. The basement wall is as wide as the compartment. The previous owner had placed plastic on the wall then insulation on top. The walls with wood shavings etc. appeared completely unaffected and dry as a bone. I am now thinking of laying tongue and groove as the subfloor instead.

Can you lay the tongue and groove directly against the basement wall with vapor barrier paper where it touches the stone, or do you need an air gap?

It is certainly possible to place syllpapp close together. If it was done before, there's probably no reason to change something you know works.
