How do you best create a functioning air gap above the roof insulation with a vaulted roof?

Doesn't this become a bit complicated since there isn't a space up at the ridge that's ventilated with vents at the top of the gable ends?

planning to have a metal roof

is it a good idea to place hardboard on the rafters, then battens across it and then nail tongue-and-groove boards on top of this? the house is 12.80 long.

How have you done it? opinions?

Grateful for answers.

Hello in my rafter roof it is constructed as follows, 45x34 batten attached to the roof truss, 3.2 mm masonite placed against it, a board in the middle of the masonite to prevent the paper from resting against the masonite and blocking, as I have different angles on the inner and outer roof, the air gap is not needed all the way up. Hope the picture clarifies everything.
