195 in a sloped ceiling - without interruption
Hi,
I'm looking for recommended dimensions for rafters/roof beams for our small extension. But I haven't found any for this type of roof. Does anyone know how to do it?
I was thinking of using 45x220 for both the rafters and the sections (..is that what it's called?),
but I'm wondering if it's possible to use 45x195 instead?
Or double 45x195 for the rafters and single for the sections?
Do I need to use K24 timber?
Or maybe thicker laminated timber constructions?
The reason I want the dimensions to be as small as possible is because there is a window above the extension, so the thickness must be kept down as much as possible to achieve a good slope.
The standing studs are 45x170. The external measurements (including the studs) are 2.9m x 6.9m.
The roof slope is about 28 degrees.
Regarding snow and such, we live outside Stockholm.
I will upload pictures for measurements and such.
Really happy if anyone has some insights!

steel beam maybe?
it will be a bit more expensive though.

Yes, I haven't even considered steel, but I hope that regular wood will suffice?
Previously, there was a similar extension on the house then it was 55x170 in the roof construction.
(the house is from 1910, and the extension was probably from 1936)

Completely made up: The roof isn't particularly large (max 2.90m span), so 45x195 should suffice. However, when it comes to the rafters, there will be a greater force (about 85% of all force) over a slightly longer span (about 4m). The rafters should therefore be a bit sturdier, but since the greatest stress is in the middle of the rafter, you can cut it wedge-shaped at the roof edge, which will keep the construction height a bit lower.
