I am going to build a worktable that doubles as storage for various sewing items, fabrics, and other items. I envision the tabletop to be a 22 mm MDF that is lacquered. The table should be 240x80x72 cm (WxDxH). Since standard inexpensive kitchen base cabinets from IKEA are only 60 cm deep, I will have to make it myself. Some of the cabinets will have shelves and one cabinet will be equipped with drawers. Can I use 16 mm MDF for this or should I go up to 19?

I would take 16 mm.

Hello! There are several types of boards on the market, everything from MDF to HDF. If it's not something particularly fine you're going to make, you can choose a cheaper one. For kitchens and bathrooms, the harder boards are used. The cheaper soft ones are easy to get dented.
