1 layer window broken, buy new one?

A layer on my window has broken, where can I buy a new one to put in? Is it difficult to cut it yourself and fit it?

Check with a glazier. If one pane is broken in a cassette, you need to replace the entire cassette.

If you have only one window and no previous experience cutting glass, it's hardly worth buying a glass cutter and trying to learn how to cut glass. It probably costs more in materials, miscuts, broken panes, and curses than simply going to a glass shop with a measurement. They fix it really quickly and well.

If it's a glass cassette, I don't even know if it's possible to make it yourself.

I took the entire window sash in the car to the glazier, so they could cut the glass and then putty it in place. A joy to see them work as quickly and expertly as they do.

If you want to save some money, remove the broken glass before you go. Scrape away the putty with a chisel and apply some paint in the rabbet where the glass was supposed to be.
