Hi!
Does anyone have a good suggestion on how I should build my small new staircase that goes between two floor levels? It will have two steps, three if you count the step up onto the upper floor. Should I build my own stringers or just use joists under each step? The new staircase should run wall to wall, starting where the lower floor ends. The upper floor will be extended a bit to meet the new staircase.
I hope I've explained it well, but the picture might help.
Grateful for any suggestions.
Regards, Mattias

Either you use bought or homemade stringers.
Or you build with joists. What type of cladding will you have on the steps?
Well, in a way I did, but I was hoping someone could provide a smooth description/drawing if they've done something similar before and what dimensions they used. For example, if they used studs as steps or planed planks.T Tompafix said:
Are you going to lay the same floor in the stairs or do you have another idea?R RenoverarenBob said:

Some build the treads from a countertop of some kind.R RenoverarenBob said:
The most important thing is that you have dry wood of high quality. Then you have to decide if you think it's nice with visible stringers or hidden ones.
I have a couple of 18 mm shelves in beech, maybe that would work if properly reinforced. I'll probably go with hidden stringers, I think it looks clean and nice.T Tompafix said:
