I am installing drywall on a wall. At the top right of this wall, there is an electrical outlet. It's something I won't be using. Can I put drywall over it, or would I be breaking any electrical rules by doing so? The reason I would prefer not to place a round plastic cover over the hole is that I am going to put up a photo wallpaper on the entire wall, and I am afraid that the plastic cover will disrupt the appearance. If I must, I will of course do it.
Cover plate that you wallpaper with pattern matching. It is completely obvious that you don't put drywall over such a box. You must be able to access it. Don't even consider anything else.

Ok, the answers seem very clear I will be installing a cover plate. Thank you all for the help.

Put up the wallpaper without cutting a hole in it for the outlet.
