Installation layer for horizontal paneling
Hi,
I am building a pool house where I want to have horizontal paneling inside and am considering how to build the installation layer. Currently, the wall, viewed from the outside, consists of paneling (22mm), an air gap, wind barrier, 95x45mm studs cc600mm. I'm thinking of having 45x45 mm studs for the installation layer. Should I have them vertical but staggered on the existing framework? 45x45 might be a bit weak to attach (18-22mm) paneling on? Or should I have the 45x45 studs horizontal, and then place vertical battens on them?

Sort of... It will be kept at least 12-15 degrees. I will install a vapor barrier/foil on the warm side of the 95 framework, so inside of that, I don't want more than 45 mm of insulation to meet the 1/3 rule (so that the dew point stays in the 95 part year-round).Jonatan79 said:
Don't you think standing 45x45 will be too weak if I don't reinforce the 95 wall so they get support? I don't really have a problem with the thickness of the wall, so 45+28 works for me.N Nikorasu said:
No, I absolutely don't think so. Screw/nail with double screws/nails at 60cm intervals. It will hold for all types of paneling I know of.F fredj721 said:
