I'm going to lay an aluminum floor frame in which I will then insert wooden studs sized 45x45. According to the instructions I have, an aluminum frame of 40x40 is recommended. Is the idea then to plane the wooden studs to fit in the frame, or is it possible to just press in the wooden studs even though the frame is smaller?

Sauna? Or what kind of floor frame is it?

Exactly, sauna.

I would have used förstärkningskena instead.

Okay, what is the difference between a u-profile and a reinforcement rail? The instructions say "floor frame of aluminum 40x40", and u-profile was the closest I could think of.

From a quick Google search on reinforcement rail, I mostly find manufacturers from whom I can't seem to order directly. Is this something I can find at a regular Bauhaus/Byggmax/etc.?

Has no experience in sauna construction, but if I understand correctly, the floor frame does not consist of a U-profile but rather rectangular tubes, and the purpose is to lift the wooden structure from the floor and get a waterproof and "neat" base.

But exactly how the framework should be built on top of the frame, I will not speculate on.

Sounds reasonable, and it would explain why the measurements 45 vs. 40 don't match. I guess I need to go to the Sauna Specialist and sort this out.
Thanks!

How did the construction go? Did you get any clarity regarding the floor frame?

The sauna specialist sold an aluminum frame specifically for this purpose (I believe it was Tylö).
Probably cheaper to buy one at a hardware store, but it worked fine and was easy to install.
