To those skilled with screws

The wife's hairdryer has a loose connection in the cord. I guess it has almost broken right where it enters the dryer. So I thought I would simply open it and shorten the cable a bit. But nope, it wasn't that simple... It's screwed together with almost a "flathead screw." What is this screw called? Can you easily get a tool for it? Or should I take an old flathead screwdriver and let the Dremel do the work?

Close-up of an unusual screw head embedded in a white surface, likely found in an electrical appliance such as a hairdryer.

Yes, it's easy (and cheap) to file a slot in an old screwdriver that's out of use anyway.
That's what I did when the same problem came up for me.
