Hello! I'm in the process of fixing a wall that had some leakage from the window, which has been sealed, of course. The house is from 1938 and has added insulation on the outside. Inside, I had to remove the old Tretex boards, air gap, and wind barrier, which I also removed to dry out the solid wood tongue behind. My question now is whether I can install a new wind barrier, air gap, and then drywall, or is a vapor barrier required? Please provide justification. Thanks in advance!

Always strive for the existing construction if it has worked for so many years. Vapor barrier is not a magical fabric; you build up vapor resistance in the windproof paper and gypsum.kanelbullesemla said:

Normally, there is no air gap inward in a house. Do you have the possibility to write down the entire structure of the wall from the outside in or vice versa?kanelbullesemla said:
Hi! I am in the middle of fixing a wall that had some leakage from the window; the window is sealed, of course. The house is from 1938 and has additional insulation on the outside. On the inside, I had to remove the old three-ply boards, air gap, and windproofing, which I also removed to dry out the solid wooden panel behind. My question now is if I can install a new wind barrier, air gap, and then gypsum, or is a vapor barrier required? Please motivate. Thanks in advance!
Thank you for the answers. The air gap will be a result of me having to align the wall with thin battens before the drywall.
