I believe applying for a preliminary decision is free of charge.

...and a good way to get stuck in endless discussion and administration. No one is hurt by Yrrol watching film reels in his basement.

Yrrol.

If you want to, you can. There are several non-professionals here on the forum who have dug out and cast walls. Sure, it's a bit of work but nothing insurmountable. Looks like a perfect place for a home theater.

I say this: Get moving for heaven's sake.

Building permit: Would you get a building permit to plaster the walls, roll out a carpet, and place a couch as it looks now? No. So why do it just because you have half a meter higher ceiling height?

Sorry MatihiasS but a building permit is required when: the building undergoes a significant change in activity, not just when it changes in size or appearance.
Of course, Yrrol can make a movie theater if he wants. Just pointed out that it might become unnecessarily expensive afterward.

I know the law requires a building permit, but that doesn't mean you can't ignore it to save both yourself and others time and money.

It may also be that the municipality's sewage system is not deep enough to connect floor drains from the new basement.
That can be managed by installing an additional sump with a submersible pump before the inspection well... doesn't seem like a big deal compared to the rest of the project.
But do you also have an individual sewage system, Yrrol?

Symptomatically enough, it seems to have been stagnant for a while now, at least the blog updates...

Yep, own water and sewage. live on a farm ;)

Excuse the "silly" comment.

Did you know you have ghosts in there =) (All those round spots in the picture are interpreted by some as ghost phenomena.) What are the conditions in the space today? (Dry, humid, dusty ....) Just to have ammo against the crazies in the future ... :)

Otherwise, it sounds like a horse job to dig out the basement.

If it's a farm, it's likely outside a detailed planning area. Then there's probably not much risk that anyone will ever argue about planning permission for the basement..?

ghost phenomena?

the drainage around the house works, but there has been a thick jungle on that side so the ground was very damp (though not 20cm closest to the house). then the house has lacked heating for some years. Some vents might have been damaged so they don't let through full capacity of air. Otherwise, I don't know, been afraid that it's mold, haven't gotten around to sealing it up again even half a year later.

haven't felt like crawling down there either to scrape at what I was advised for analysis if it's mold or not.

ah, indeed, but I want to be serious and apply if that’s the case.

Ghost phenomena are just common damp particles in the air.

Lol - yes. That's a reasonable explanation... try presenting it to the believers :)

I think it looks like an exciting project!! A real horse job indeed, but you have the potential to make the house much more usable with a significant space in the basement. As with all other constructions, it's essential to plan every detail carefully, multiply that time by five, and consider if it's worth investing that number of hours.

OT: it can't be people who have ever used a camera with flash who think that flash-photographed dust would be ghosts. That was actually among the absolute dumbest things I've ever read, you hear a lot before your ears fall off... Or read before your eyes pop out, as it might be called in internet language...
