What do you think yourself? ;)
If you don't want too many gaps, you should make sure the wood is good and dry and nail it during the winter when humidity is low, otherwise, there will be slightly more gaps.
I think it's completely okay, I'm very happy with our walls with up to 3mm gaps.
I think you should lay them tight when you nail them! There will likely be some gaps. Stop being scared now! ;) Show some enthusiasm and get the panel up and show some pictures when it's newly installed, and come back in a year with new pictures :D!
It will be fine, and you'll be satisfied if you don't cut corners along the way. Do it well, whether you set it with gaps or not, and you'll sleep well! That's always the case! :) It's just a walk-in closet, not the reception room! See it as a test room. Nail, nail, nail...
 
:D, thanks for the help. Started yesterday and have done half of it now. Will get back with pictures when everything is painted and done....
