Hello forum!

I am renovating a staircase and noticed that the handrail brackets were fastened with stud bolts that were not M10... but turned out to be 3/8-16 UNC-threaded studs.

Since several of the studs are damaged, I need to replace them, but I can't find anyone selling approximately 100 mm long stud bolts with UNC threads.

Does anyone have tips on a store/webshop that sells such in Sweden?

I have searched on Amazon, eBay, and others, but there are none sold at a reasonable price, as most come from the USA and therefore have hefty shipping+VAT+customs fees. Additionally, I can't find anything on Swedol or similar either... (even though my search karma at Swedol is notoriously bad).

Drill the hooks to 8.5mm and use an M10 tap so you can use M10 screws.
That's probably the easiest and cheapest in this country.

Thank you!
I will test on a hook first. They are original from the 1950s and well integrated with the rest of the stair railing, so it's important to me that the original hooks are not damaged.

I can report that it worked excellently.
I did not think one could reshape threads so easily between two nearby dimensions, but as I said, it seems to have worked fine. Now 5 banister hooks sit nicely with new m10 pins.
