An approximately 8-meter long log has washed up on our beach during the winter. It is carved in two places on the thick end and in one place on the narrow end. It has been attached to something else where it is carved. I thought it might be a remnant of a log house, but there is a lot of branch left on the log. Does anyone recognize the type of work?
As a size reference, there is a medium-sized dog sitting at the thick end. A large, rough-hewn log with carvings at both ends lies on a sandy beach near water, with a medium-sized dog next to it for scale. A long log with carved areas rests on a sandy beach beside a stone and water. A medium-sized dog sits near the log's thick end. Wooden log with carved notches on a sandy beach, surrounded by rocks and dry grass, used for unknown construction; a medium-sized dog near the thick end.

I would think that it comes from a stone chest.

Believe in part of the construction of the Treasure vault (Oak Island).

Where from? But it is certainly a part of a log house, fastened and locked with pegs.

No, it's not. Houses are processed on the top and bottom so that the logs fit tightly. Additionally, they are processed on the sides at the ends, but not in the middle. That's not how timber from houses looks. I am quite sure it comes from a stenkista.

As an archipelago resident, I insist that it comes from a stone crate (bryggkista, brokista, a beloved child has many names). Compare with the logs in this film:

Seems reasonable with Nämdöfjärden just outside 🙂
