Planning to build a loft with visible beams (i.e., not joists). Preferably antique beams to match the existing visible rafters in the rest of the house (see image), but after searching on Blocket and Facebook Marketplace without success, I've started googling for sawmills (and lumber yards) in the Stockholm area that can cut approximately 150x150x4500 beams. But I can't find any! Is that possible? I find several sawmills both up north and in the south but none within a reasonable distance from Stockholm. Suggestions? Tips?
Exposed wooden beams on a ceiling, with a small arched window beneath, showcasing the room’s rustic design element.

Tex Beijer Bygg sells beam/Sparre newly sawed. It is likely to be a custom order but no problem to get home.

Otherwise, drive around the countryside, find a crooked barn and ask if you can make an offer on a beam.

Edit: local building preservation stores or timber workers might be able to give tips as well.

I think this is something that can be found a little bit everywhere in the country, but no one is advertising. Place an ad for buying, it should be able to give someone an incentive to consider selling those odd beams in adequately used condition instead of making firewood out of them. Otherwise, it's also good to have a few extra beams like that if you have an old farm, just because it is difficult and expensive to find equivalent new timber. However, it might take some time before you get a response.

Otherwise, rebuilding depots are an option, or perhaps demolition companies...

Thanks, I remember seeing those at Beijer, and they might be the third choice if I don't find something else that resembles old beams with "raw edge" a bit more. Checking with a building conservation store sounds like an excellent idea!

Think it was one of the sawmills I googled but Gagnef qualifies as "not close enough to Stockholm" for me. :-)

Rebuilding depot - awesome, now I can google a bit more again! :-)

Haha, saw that ad too - first thought was that it would be quite a job just to take down the roof to access something useful, but maybe worth checking out anyway - maybe someone else has already done that work! ...and reasonable distance from home...

For those interested, I went to check out the "timber frame" in Trosa that was for sale on Blocket, but the logs/beams were either too short or rotten...
I also stopped by Beijer and checked out the rafters, which were unexpectedly nice - rough-sawn with natural cracks. I'll go with these. Thanks for the tips!
