I am drawing a small shed with a mono-pitched roof.

I'm considering how to handle the gables.

Is a wall plate (green) necessary? Or is it enough to just extend the studs and cut them in line with the roof truss?

Should I build the short sides rectangular with a wall plate (blue) and then build on the upper part?

Maybe it would be easier to align the frame if all the walls have wall plates and then attach the roof trusses?

Diagram of a shed roof structure with green top plate (hammarband) and blue bottom plate on the short side, showing joists and wall studs.

Does anyone have pictures of solutions for this?

I would have chosen the green one but not the blue one since it doesn't serve any function.

But then it might be safest to lower the green one a little, maybe by 1 cm, to be sure that it doesn't go over the roof truss.
