Hello. In connection with the discussion about cleaning in our association, the question arose about what type of flooring we have in our entrances. The buildings were built in 1957 and in my opinion, the floors look like those in all other houses from that era. Attaching some pictures. The question is whether the floors should be wet mopped or not. Online, there is information about this according to the attached file.

Thank you for your response!

  • Guide on cleaning stone floors: use mild, pH-neutral cleaner; avoid soaking; suitable for granite, slate, but careful with limestone and marble.
  • Terrazzo floor from a 1957 building, featuring a speckled pattern of gray and white stones, discussed for cleaning methods in a housing forum.
  • Stairway landing with polished terrazzo floor and railing, 1957 building. Discussion on cleaning method.
  • Terrazzo flooring in a building entrance from the 1950s, showing a close-up of the speckled pattern and stair step detail.

Exposed aggregate concrete, i.e., the surface layer of the concrete has been ground away so that the stones emerge and form the surface layer. No problems with wet mopping, extremely durable surface.

Terrazzo, but about the same as mentioned above.
Terrazzo is a type of concrete where cement is mixed with an aggregate, such as marble chips or other stones.
The mixture is cast into the form and then polished in several steps to highlight the stone material and create a smooth, beautiful surface. Terrazzo is easy to maintain and requires minimal upkeep, often just with soap washing, and becomes more beautiful over the years. And immortal.

Thanks for the answers, now we know!
