What is this screw type called and where can I get it?
I am looking for a sleeve-like screw-nut combination with screw heads on both ends. The "nut" looks like this: it is cylindrical and smooth on the outside, threaded on the inside, of course, and its bottom is essentially a screw head, which usually matches the design of the corresponding machine screw. The heads are often thin and slightly domed and of the inset type but come in different designs. If you screw the screw all the way in, you get a bilaterally symmetrical smooth cylinder with heads on both ends. Four such screws can, for example, be used to bind together a substantial stack of punched A4 papers, if you understand what I mean.
What is this screw/nut type called?? I've googled sleeve screw, sleeve nut, long nut with head and all sorts of things, but nothing comes up that looks like what I'm after. And where do you buy it? In the hardware store, they don't seem to have these special screws in bulk as far as I can see.
The matter is complicated by the fact that I want a long, thin sleeve. Outer diameter 4-6 mm and assembled length 50-80 mm. Does such a unicorn exist?

Those screws are available at no cost at IKEA's stores.
They are used to hold kitchen cabinets together and can be found outside the checkouts,
where various small items can be picked up for free.
But where do you find your words? Serious question.
bilateralsymmetrisk? Did you make it up yourself or where did you get it from?

Thanks, folks. That's the one I meant in the picture. The problem is that when I now google for koppelskruv, I mostly get a window detail that looks like this:
http://www.bauhaus.se/koppelskruv-komplett-305-50mm.html
So many children for such a beloved name, or whatever you want to say
IKEA - interesting idea, didn't think of that. But there's probably not much of a selection if you want a slim and long one? I can check if I have luck, but aren't these kinds of things sorted in bulk? I found a site online that sold koppelskruvar (don't know the measurements) in packs of 1000, and that seems a bit unnecessary...
http://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bilateral_symmetri
I realize now, by the way, that this little gadget is both bilaterally and radially symmetric, but since practically all screws and nuts are radially symmetric, it doesn't add much. I could also have written: "Looks the same at both ends if you imagine splitting it across" but that requires more words. It would have been best to find a picture and post it to avoid misunderstandings, but then you must know what to search for...
Anyway, I'll check IKEA and...? Is there no chain in the Stockholm/Uppsala area that has a proper selection of interesting screws? Or if one can order in bulk online.
EDIT: Apparently also called connection screw: http://www.nords.se/sv/forvaring/beslag/ovrigt/forbindelseskruv-miller-4-p.html

Well, it's time to get acquainted with a new concept, I hear:

Could you email all the hardware/building stores in the area and ask if they have bilateralsymmetrical or radialsymmetrical screws
Good luck
PS I stopped with Latin after I learned Me hoc ipsum nihil agere delectat
It's actually easier to get by with the country's language.

Protozoa: You're asking for someone who sells slightly unusual screws in and around -08. Try Sifvert Skruv. "In my time" (retired now) they had most things in the way of screws. And if they didn't have it, they would bring it in or manufacture it themselves.
Kan själv!
