It's kind of like an m4 (or m3, or m5, can't know without measuring or trying) machine screw you need, a very short one too.
Edit, considering the length and usage, m3 or m4 is probably the most reasonable, and there's likely a suitable model at Clas Ohlson

He probably doesn't want a machine screw with a hex head on his stomach. A saddle maker or a shoemaker who also handles leather belts might have suitable spare parts.
