Had the electrician come today to move a fuse box. I pointed out that I wanted clothes hanging in the same place where the box was placed, but when I got home, they had set the box so high, it was pretty much game over.
- Going to ask him to redo it. Or I might put a wooden board with hinges in front and have the hat shelf on it.

Anyway... What height does the textbook say a hat shelf should be at? I'm quite tall but planning for kids here, so I would like to follow the standard at least.

A height that feels just right maybe? :S I set my clothes rail at about 1.70m. If you're going to have a shoe rack underneath and maybe hang coats on hangers, it might need to be a bit higher.

Small/younger children can have their own fun hooks on the wall to hang their clothes on.

The cabinet starts at 128cm height and ends at 200cm height... It quite extensively covers the area I had intended to aim the shelf at. But if I can get him to lower the cabinet by 40-50cm, then it should work better. (built-in cabinet in the wall so the clothes hang flat against the door)

There must be some standard for the height a switchboard should be at, right? Which I assume trumps the hat shelf norm ;)

If he lowers it by 40-50cm, then it's at child height...?

I'd rather bend my knees when a circuit breaker has tripped than stand on a ladder when clothes need to be hung up ;)

The day you have children, are you going to put locks on the central unit? :)

mumble... though the girl's children are old so to speak, but yeah of course... but should be able to fiddle with the key..

damn, I was planning a small cabinet over the hat shelf, not this kind of behemoth...

but if the wires don't reach any longer......................................:P

I think the fuse box ended up at the best possible height anyway. :)

Possibly 1 dm higher, to keep away children's fingers somewhat older...

talked to the electrician, he wasn't exactly happy about the misunderstanding. But, he admitted that one could install another one that would then be horizontal in a slightly smaller size.

Bought a standard hat rack, measured up 170, 175, 180, 185, 190 and experimented a bit.
170 positioned the hooks, 175 the first shelf, and 195 the top shelf... over there, another central (51.5x37cm) can fit nicely, and there's no need to redo all the wiring and extend pipes...

it might work out then :)

8 years have passed and once again I searched for an answer to this question and found my old thread.

I can share that I still don’t have a hat rack, ended up with a standalone IKEA rod,
but I’m sketching my own design and planning to have a carpenter create it.

However, I no longer have the Habo hat rack and I'm curious about certain measurements.
Maybe one of you has a standard rack like Habo and could measure a bit for me? :)

Curious about the distance between the shelves, and how deep the shelves are with and without the distance to the wall, according to the picture:

Wall-mounted shelf with two wooden slat shelves on metal frames. Labeled sections A, B, C show measurements for distance and depth.

Hi, did you miss my four-year-old post in the Great Boasting Thread?
https://www.byggahus.se/forum/threa...-allmaen-beskadan.124179/page-58#post-1970479

The shelves are 46 cm deep and are installed with a 31 cm height difference.
The length of the shelves is 131 cm, fitted between the wall and the wardrobe.
And the lower shelf is set 160 cm above the floor, so a double shoe rack fits underneath.

And don't worry, the wall has been paneled and completed for a long time now :)

Great. :)

(Strangely, I checked habo yesterday but the one I stumbled upon lacked measurements)

Thank you so much

My actual question is, how deep should a shelf be.

Knockonwood mentions 46cm. Habo goes with 30cm.

When I hold up the folding rule and feel it out, all measurements seem huge since I've been without a coat rack for many years.

Those of you who are crafty and have baskets and other items on your coat racks, what depth is reasonable?

The upcoming bench will be 37cm deep.
Between the wall and the front door, it's 45cm.
