Need to lift this cabin onto a trailer so I can drive it home.
A truck with a crane lifted it to where it stands today, but I don't know the weight of the cabin.

It is possible to stand right next to the cabin with the truck and crane.

10m long x 5m wide x 4.5m high

What does it weigh?

Great place to stay if you get really pooped. :D

Yes, it certainly is. A nice social thing, I thought :D
A bit of excitement too. 2 of you will have to scoop up the mess with your hands. The third one gets away :D

Estimate the weight now! I need to get the cabin home quickly.

I was thinking more "Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves"...

Guessing what houses weigh is as impossible as guessing what they cost. If you look in Träguiden, they also don't provide weights, but they do have some values for calculations. They state that an exterior wall weighs about 50 kg/m² and a roof about the same. Now, this cabin certainly doesn't have such stable walls and there's no tile on the roof, but these might be values to use for an estimate.

5 tons then? More or less?

No one has an estimate?

Not over 5 tons anyway, is my estimate.

I think it could be approaching 10 tons! We moved a similar house two years ago. Do you know how the walls are constructed, and how the floors are insulated (mineral wool or sawdust)?

I don't have a clue, really.
But with an estimate of dimensions, I think it's about 7 cubic meters of timber, paneling, and boards in the actual frame (studs, floor chipboard, wall chipboard, paneling on the roof). So just there the weight would be about 3.5 tons.
So I would guess a little over 5 tons, but probably well under 10 tons.

edit:
But if it's a plank frame then ...

Does the weight of the cabin matter that much? Since a truck with a crane placed it where it is, another truck with a crane should be able to load it. During loading, you can position yourself next to it, and then it's no problem to lift. The biggest issue is during unloading if you can't get close to the spot where it's going. At full extension of the crane, it lifts only a fraction of what it can do at close range. I also believe the cabin weighs just over 5 tons.

Now some good guesses came in. Nice!

Need to get a sense of what it weighs anyway. Difference between a truck that can take 5 tons or 15 tons. I have a friend who can take it if we're around 5 tons. If it's closer to 10-15 tons, then it will be more of a problem.

The previous owner talked about 7 tons but he was just guessing. Not sure at all.

Have you thought about emptying it from stoves, toilets (note plural ;)), refrigerators, etc., i.e., everything that can relatively easily be taken out?

Is there a regelstomme in it?

Probably not under 5 tons. A construction barrack weighs about 3000 kg. This barrack is gigantic in size. Sounds like a huge project just to get all the permits for transport.
5 m wide 4.5 m high

As far as I know, no permits are needed for the height - just choose the right routes.
It is always the responsibility of the transporter to ensure that the vehicle can pass when the transport is higher than 450 cm.

For widths over 450 cm, (in addition to a permit) marking, a warning vehicle, and an escort are needed.

The warning vehicle must be a car or truck with a total weight of no more than 4.5 tons. It should be equipped with warning signs that are clearly visible from the front and rear. The signs should be placed higher than the top edge of the windshield.

The warning vehicle must be equipped with at least one warning light capable of emitting flashing amber-colored light. The light should be on when driving in the dark. When driving in daylight, the light should be on only when the transport encroaches on lanes for other traffic.

There must be radio communication other than telephone between the warning vehicle and the transport vehicle.
Conversations should be able to take place between the warning vehicle and the transport vehicle in a language both parties understand.

The driver must have a driver's license with categories B and C. A warning vehicle may escort a maximum of three vehicles or vehicle trains. No vehicle may be attached to the warning vehicle.

For width over 450 cm, length over 35 m, and at high gross weights, it is normally prescribed that the transport should be escorted by a road transport leader or police. A list of appointed road transport leaders is available on the National Police Board's website.

Thank you for all the help. It's just the loading that's a problem.
I will drive myself on small roads for about 10km, so widths and such are not that important ;)

Only the weight is important. :)
