Hello!

I'm planning to build a fairly large multi-level deck for the house this summer. I have no prior experience with something like this. But I'm quite handy and very interested in learning!

I want to learn everything technical about how to do this in the best way. Everything from different types of cement, casting, wood sizing, framing, decking, etc.

Are there books I can read, or how do you recommend that one learns this? I gratefully welcome all tips.

Start by posting pictures of where you will build

Why would that be relevant information to respond to my post?

If you want to get better help and more answers. Otherwise, don't.

Go to your city's library and look for books and magazines. You usually find quite a lot there.

You might have misunderstood my question. I want to learn in general about different ways to build, standards, and regulations. If I have a specific question about my build, I can create a new thread about it.

Absolutely, I was planning to do that! But to not waste too much time, I was hoping someone knowledgeable here on the forum could point me in the right direction and suggest specific books.

What books do carpenters, architects, and civil engineers study when it comes to decks? That's what I want to read!

There is likely an abundance of books about decks. Go to the nearest library and ask.
