Hello!

I'm planning to install panel boards (vertical panel) in the hallway. Currently, there are drywall sheets that are wallpapered, and the drywall is (probably) mounted on a steel stud behind it. Since it's probably difficult to find wooden studs behind to nail into - we are simply considering gluing the panel boards directly onto the wall.

The panel boards (MDF boards) apparently come in either 6 mm or 11 mm thickness and 400 mm or 600 mm width. Which thickness is preferable if you're going to glue directly onto the wall? 6 mm seems "handier" and takes up less space from the hallway - or is there any "disadvantage" with "only" a 6 mm board (that it becomes "flimsy"? Or is it simply handier with a 6 mm board?

If I decide to glue, I don't have to worry about finding a stud at 60 cm centers, can I then just as well take the 400 mm board in that case?
