Hello

I have an old cast iron stove that is active and will remain so, meaning it gets super hot when used. I am planning to divide the old kitchen and build a WC as close as possible to it.

We are talking about the right edge of the wood stove. From the floor up to the bottom edge of the stove, there are 10 cm of brick. Continuing upwards, there are 6 cm of brick. On the right side, there is currently an electric stove. It is going to be removed, and I want the wall to be placed there. The right "wood stove end" i.e. 6 cm of brick, is tiled.

How close can a wall be placed to the existing stove that we will be able to use, and what materials should I use to ensure that the wall does not get damaged by the heat from the stove? How would you have done it?

Thanks!

This has been approved by the chimney sweep. The wall is built according to Cembrit's instructions.

They have apparently abandoned the instruction I built after. But there is a similar one in the attached file.

Hi, thanks for the reply!

What is the space like behind the stove (where the connection) goes in and do you know how that wall is constructed?

Behind the stove, there is a masonry chimney. It's the wall to the left of the stove that I built. Image of a chimney behind a stove with a newly built wall to the left, featuring floral wallpaper and wooden flooring.

Tradition dictates 500 mm free from combustible material such as a framed wall or 50 mm from a fire wall (EI60), such as a brick wall that is at least 70 mm. This fulfills the requirement that the wall (if combustible) should not exceed 85 degrees C.

I was required by the local chimney sweep to build a bathroom wall against an active chimney stack (fireplace). Two requirements were made:

1) steel studs

2) air should be able to circulate in the wall
