We are going to build a smaller garage measuring 4 x 5 meters, and the slab is already cast with pipes for electricity, water, and heating installed.
The garage will have a wooden facade and a sloped roof - a relatively simple construction.
A builder suggested that we have a "sockel" in lightweight concrete, which of course will be plastered, at the bottom.
My question: How thick should the lightweight concrete sockel be? And how high? We live in Skåne. Do you insulate the inside of it as well, or just in the wall above between the studs? By the way, there is underfloor heating in the slab!
Not having wood at the bottom might be both more aesthetically pleasing and safer, considering moisture.
Incidentally, there was some lightweight concrete left over from the construction of our house, which we could use for the garage.
What do you think about the construction?
