I have now toured the entire local area and checked out oiled oak. What we want is oak flooring, but we can't afford that, so it will have to be three-strip.

However, I found an alternative this weekend, namely solid oak parquet. This is 8 mm thick and installed. Sanded and oiled, it costs 348:- per sqm.

As I understand it, you apply glue, then a cork mat, then glue and parquet.

How does this option feel on an unheated concrete base?

Will it crack, do you think?

We will have oiled oak flooring throughout our house except in the hall, bathroom, and laundry room. We will pay 550 SEK/sqm installed and finished.
It is a difference of 165 SEK/sqm, if you have many sqm it adds up to a significant amount of money.

hama170 -> By oiled ektilja, do you mean planks then? What dimensions are they going to be (width, thickness)? May I ask where you are buying them and if you have any price just for the floor (excluding installation)??

Hama170, that sounds like a very good price, impressive :o actually good.

I assume it's 14-15 mm and between 3.5-4 mm of wear surface?

The big question, where should I call to haggle myself the same price ;)

We bought through the house builder, but kungälvsträ also had a good price.
