I hope people have some tips for me - I'm having a bit of trouble figuring out how to solve the ventilation and drainage in the extension I'm working on, this is a very sensitive issue where aesthetics are as important as function - according to some in the household, more important ;)

The pictures show the extension under the balcony and the old white panel that covered the balcony with cut-out holes for ventilation. The balcony "roof" is covered with standing seam metal that extends about 3cm beyond the raw roof. I was thinking of building on this panel so it aligns with the corner boards, possibly a little outside. But how do I best ensure the ventilation works and doesn't let in rainwater, and how should I solve the drainage so it doesn't look like a DIY project :)

  • Red house extension under balcony with white trim; balcony has white railing. Roof covered with metal sheets. Ventilation holes in the panel.
  • Red house with a balcony extension beneath a wooden rail, white window frames, and red paneling. Ventilation and drainage solutions needed for aesthetics and function.
