Do you have to use joint tape when plastering the seams between drywall panels? Or is it just as good without, meaning just plaster?

Best regards, Anders

use strips! the joints crack otherwise much more easily. They don't cost much and are self-adhesive, so it doesn't take very long.

Definitely use tape!! I'm renovating a house where the previous owner put up a whole lot of drywall and you can immediately see where he used tape and where he "forgot". In the places where there is no tape, the filler has cracked and it looks really awful!

Hi.
If you're going to wallpaper and don't have too large areas, I would buy husfix. You get frustrated with filler that sinks. Maybe I'm bad at plastering, but it doesn't matter how meticulous and careful I am, there's always some little shadow that appears. Husfix is relatively expensive, but you only need to apply it once because it doesn't shrink.
There are definitely more fun things to spend time on.

Should one use joint tape even when installing renovation plasterboard? That is, when there is already a wall behind...

Best regards, Anders

Use strip.
It is cheap and takes 2/100 second to put on.

What is "husfix"?

a kind of "universal goop". can be used for most things. plaster walls and ceilings, fill in fairly large holes with it. I think it is overrated.

usually found by the paint at hardware stores. isn't it Casco that makes it?

It should be paper strips!
Why?

When should it be paper and when fiber?

What's wrong with screwing sheet metal behind all joints and corners? That usually suffices.

Should one also use fabric tape on joints that are not tapered? Then the fabric will be on the outside and you have to spackle over it, isn't there a risk of getting a "bump"?

You should place metal strips behind there. You shouldn't have those kinds of joints except in the ceiling.

What are these metal strips? ???
...never heard of them, do you have a link that can describe them?

(...well, I guess I'm a novice :-[ )
