Hi,

I am in the process of renovating my summer cabin. The walls consisted of pine paneling -> wind barrier paper -> insulation -> some board -> cladding boards (I haven't checked behind the board but assume the paneling comes outside of it). I have torn down the pine paneling and re-aligned the framework (to make it straight). Now I'm thinking of putting the insulation back, but what should I do with the wind barrier paper? Should I use the same type of wind barrier paper or should I use some form of plastic??

In a house that is only used during the summer, a condensation barrier is generally not needed. There is also no wisdom in installing plastic in only certain parts of the house. This would only worsen the situation in the non-plastic areas.

ok, should I put the wind barrier there then (right behind the drywall)? My thought is that it's good to restore it as it was since the cabin has been doing well so far with it :)

It doesn't do any good there either. The purpose of wind paper is to stop wind and water splashes. You don't have that directly behind the gypsum anyway.
