Urgent question - load-bearing or not?

We want to cut the stairs and put a handrail on, and I can't find anything in the original drawings... is the post at the far end load-bearing? There is a load-bearing wall 2 meters away from the stairs. That post is thicker than all the other spindles.

The reason it is sturdier than its neighbors is because it becomes a pole that is often grabbed.

The trellis is supporting for the outer corner of the staircase landing (can be replaced by a post), but that's all.
