I have floor joists on a pillar foundation, 220 joists with insulation.

Can I lay battens with underfloor heating pipes between them, or do I need grooved chipboard?

Obviously, plates under the pipes regardless. On top of the pipes, I will lay floor gypsum and tiles.

Works excellently with sparse floor heating in between. I have it myself and then an 11 mm laminate floor. Your construction with plasterboard works at least as well.

A tip is to take lots of photos with a measuring tape/ruler visible. Once the plasterboard is up, screwing becomes quite nerve-wracking otherwise :)

In the instructions I have come across for gles+klinker, I think there is usually a layer of floor chipboard under the gypsum. However, I have no idea if it's necessary.
