Hello!

I will soon need to plaster (13mm) an entire wall in a kitchen space in preparation for future tiling. The wall currently consists of particle board, with a window and several electrical outlets.

My question is; what is the best way to manage the transition to the window considering that the wall will become significantly thicker?

There are so-called klackfoder that eliminate the edge. Otherwise, you can nail a 13mm strip under the molding.

Another option is to install a wider smygbräda in the window, but that also means a bit more work, although it will probably look nicer on the other hand.

If you mean in the recess, sometimes it can look nice to tile the recesses...

Not sure if it’s an option for you, not really an answer to your question either, but we used renovation plasterboard, 6mm, on the window wall and then, regular, 13mm, on the other walls.
Then, as I read in another post, it looks nice if you can tile in the window reveals.
We also have particleboard underneath.

Good luck!

Thank you so much for the responses!

Klackfoder is exactly what I was looking for. There will be a lot of tiles (few upper cabinets) and the tiler recommended 13mm gypsum underneath.

For electrical outlets, I guess you need some form of distance ring? I thought I’d leave that part to the electrician. :D

Spacer rings can be purchased at the nearest hardware store.
