This might be a silly question, but I wonder how you would go about getting up on a roof to replace a roof fan.

At first, I thought it might work with just a ladder, but it doesn't feel stable or safe.
Then I considered renting scaffolding, but that will only help me reach the roof's height, then I'd have to go about 1.5 m diagonally to work with the fan.

My last thought is to rent a trailer lift, but I don't know if this is too ambitious.

Do any of you who have done something similar have any advice?

  • Diagram showing a cross-section of a roof with a fan location marked 1.4 meters diagonally from the edge, and a height of 2.8 meters from the ground.
Work safely. If using a lift feels right, go for it.

  • Laddar…
Ladder up to the roof and then harness and rope up to the roof. And then harness and rope that is made to support against, kept taut at all times.
