I am planning to renovate our wooden balcony from the 80s. It is about 3x1.5m, with a rubber membrane covered by decking and a parapet with two projections for water.
The problems are:
- Time to replace the rubber membrane
- The projections are terrible (small, clog with leaves, etc.)
- The paint is peeling due to moisture getting around the rubber membrane (I assume)
Wishes:
- Gutters instead of projections
- New rubber membrane
- Remove the parapet
Considerations:
- What should be done with the posts? Should they be cut down to ensure there is a complete roof with a rubber membrane, and then place some type of posts on it instead?
- The threshold to the balcony is currently only 2-3 cm. Does it need to be raised?
Incredibly grateful for any tips!
