Tips on fittings for floating dock/gangway

Hello.

I'm planning to build a small gangway with a barrel as a float, and it will be attached to a staircase with a 45x170 beam on either side of the steps. Does anyone have tips on what type of brackets I could use that can be purchased at stores like Bauhaus, Biltema, etc.?
