Anyone have facts about why timber/ panels etc. have increased in price /m

Is everyone building because of the Corona and demand has become higher, or is there something else behind the price increase?


Maybe time to build a Bandsågsverk or swíngmill :-s

I bought studs at Snicken in Visby the week before last in Gotland kärnvirke. They had a reduced price. Nice staff too.

Xl-bygg in Mölndal says that price increases are partly due to increased competition from the USA on OSB and timber. The price of OSB has gone up about 100% in a few months.

Many factors have an impact.
Canada has major issues with bark beetles, so they have not been able to supply North America with timber, which means that the Scandinavian/Russian sawmills get much better prices there than at home. This causes shortages/price increases here.
Wood-based board materials are experiencing a similar situation, and additionally, some factories have burned down.

OSB I've heard that there are only two factories in the world producing the glue, and one of them has burned down. We can't even get OSB at work anymore.
